I enjoy many kinds of music. I grew up listening to country from the time I was being formed in my mothers belly. I grew up listening to some of the greatest country music artists there has ever been. I always used to tell people that I find my peace in two places (1) God and (2) Country music. In high school, there was nothing like hopping in my truck, rolling the windows down, and blaring some Garth Brooks. My love for country music has not changed. I still enjoy listening to it, but I have developed a greater taste for music that points to Christ.
There are still those times where country music will just put me in the right mood, but as I’ve matured in my spiritual life, I have found that much of country music is filled with filth. It is very difficult to get away from some sort of sinful filth in a song. This is why growing a taste for music that points us to the Savior is better for us. The CD I am currently listening to in my car is Shane and Shane’s new CD titled “Pages”. It is a great CD musically and lyrically. I find myself thinking through many of the music and how their music points to Christ or tells stories from the book about Christ, the Bible. One particular song is called “Burn us Up”. It is about the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego refusing to bow to King Nebuchadnezzer. These three refuse to bow to the King knowing their punishment will be to be burned in a furnace. As they refuse, they declare “Burn us up, for we will not bow to anyone but the one and only true God”. It is an incredible song.
I am not saying all music accept music that points to Christ is wrong. I believe there are some song that we can clarify as “brain candy”. This is music that may be beautifully made and creatively pieced together. There may be some music that is hard rock, country, rap, or alternative music that musically we enjoy and the lyrics are very neutral with no sinful language or lyrics that are at odds with the Bible. I believe we as believers need to be wise about what goes into our ears and heart. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and check out this CD if you get a chance. Thanks for visiting!

Jack is a blast! Everyday is something new and exciting for our family. Yesterday, Jack crawled for the first time. He made it across the living room. Marci and I were so proud of our little boy. God has blessed us in so many ways. I’m excited to see what he brings our way next. It’s really neat when you trust the Lord with your life. Here is a little video of him eating dinner tonight. I hope ya’ll enjoy! Have a great week!

Just a reminder this morning that God loves his people. He wants faithfulness from them. He wants for them to love him with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. This only come by trusting and obeying His Word and His Son. As you read this hymn focus on the simple words and ask the Lord to give you more faithfulness and obedience today. Thanks for visiting!
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Welp, there ya have it…….they really were right. All those times I heard “You’ll understand one day” have finally gotten here. Our son Jack is now 6 months old and man, time really does fly. It seems like it was just yesterday when I was sitting in the hospital room holding him after he had just been born. Life for Marci and I has certainly changed in the last 6 months…for the better. Having a child matures a person almost about as much as getting married does. It such a huge blessing. You know the bible says “children are a blessing from the Lord” and I totally see why. God has been so good to us and he continues to poor out his blessings on my awesome family.
I know there are lots of people out there, family, friends, and others who check up on us by reading this blog. Thanks for visiting. I hope you’ll continue to pray for us as we seek to serve the Lord here in Louisville. I’m terribly sorry for the long span between this blog and my last one. I really hope to update this more often. Please continue to stop by frequently and drop me a line. Thanks for visiting. We love you all!!!

It’s been two months since I’ve added anything to this blog. Everything is going well in our Family. Jack is now 8 weeks old and chubby. It’s amazing how big he is. After one month, he wieghed 10 lbs. 10 oz. We go tomorrow to have him wieghed again (I’m sure he’s over 13 lbs.). I’m posting a few pictures of him for all to see. I will be updating this more often now, so stick around and see where we go!
